May saw the club make two memorable trips to away competitions.

At the start of the month 34 members travelled to Jersey to compete in their 2008 Open 

Teams from France and England bolstered the Jersey and Guernsey contingent to a 90 team entry. Guernsey came away with a second in one competition and placed third in another.

 

At the end of the month, 25 members travelled to the Brecons Beacons in Wales to compete against a Welsh select team.

On average the standard of play was comparable but a few of the national players tipped the balance of play to record a win of 35 games to 25.

 VISIT TO JERSEY CARREFOUR CLUB

June saw our annual visit to our friends at the Carrefour Club. On arrival we were given our usual warm welcome by members and  welcome refreshments.  Due to our late arrival we were only able to play one game in the morning followed by lunch.  In the afternoon  3 more games were played.  Games were drawn as a Melee , pairing as far as possible one Guernsey Lady with a Jersey Man and visa versa.

Awards were presented to the tree top Guernsey Players and the Three top Jersey Players.

Presentations were followed by a BBQ which was enjoyed by all.

It is always a good day in Jersey and this visit was no exception. Hospitality, Food and Friendliness was second to none.
