GUERNSEY OPEN PETANQUE COMPETITION
15th & 16th SEPTEMBER 2012
The Club President, the Committee and the Members invite you to join them at the
Guernsey Petanque Centre, for the "fiercely competitive but also fiercely friendly"
Guernsey Open Petanque Competition.

Inscription from 8-15am. Play commences at 9.00am (prompt!)
Entry fee £10 per Team.
The format for the mornings play will be the same as in past years.
Teams will be drawn in leagues of four, and play three games in the morning session.
The winners of each league will qualify for the Open, the second team for the Plate,
the third team for Consolage 1, and the fourth team for Consolage 2.
In order to give all teams a full day of Petanque, for the afternoon session each of the four
competitions will be divided into 2 sections and each team will play 3 games against
other teams in its section.
The winners of each section will play each other in the finals.
There will be no play-offs for third and fourth.
This means that seven rounds will be played instead of the customary eight, allowing the finals
to be played earlier, in the presence of a larger number of spectators.

Entry fee £6 per Team.
The format will be the same as in recent years.
Opponents will be drawn at random for round 1, then winners will be drawn against winners,
losers drawn against losers, for the next three rounds.
All teams therefore are playing a minimum of four games.
Four teams will qualify for the semi-finals, the winners contesting the final,
and losers playing for third and fourth.
The Guernsey Open is organised by the GUERNSEY CLUB de PETANQUE L.B.G.
Appropriate footwear is to be worn at all times when playing.

We appreciate the high costs of a trip to Guernsey, this early information might enable you to book as groups/clubs, earning more competitive rates. At our end we will endeavour to keep the competition fees and the social charges as low as possible, and to keep the winning prize money as high as possible.
