Guernsey Open Petanque Competition
14th - 16th September 2007
The Club President, the Committee and the Members invite you to join
them at the Guernsey Petanque Centre, for the ' fiercely competitive' but
also 'fiercely friendly' Guernsey Open
Saturday Open Doubles. Inscription from 8-15 am. Play commences at 9-00am.
The format for the morning's play will be the same as in past years.
Teams will be drawn in leagues of four, and play 3 games in the morning session.
The winner of each league will qualify for the open, the second team for the Plate,
the third for Consolage 1, and the fourth team for Consolage 2.
In order to give all teams a full day of Petanque, for the afternoon session each of the four
competitions will be divided into 2 sections and each team will play 3 games against
other teams in its section.
The winners of each section will play each other in the finals.
There will be no play-offs for third and fourth.
This means that seven rounds will be played instead of the customary eight, allowing the
finals to be played earlier, in the presence of a larger number of spectators.
Sunday Open Triples Inscription from 8-30 am. Play commences at 9-00 am.
The format will be the same as in recent years.
Opponents will be drawn at random for round 1, then winners will be drawn against
winners, losers against losers for the next three rounds.
All teams therefore are playing a minimum of 4 games.
Four teams will qualify for the semi-finals, the winners contesting the final,
and the losers playing for third and fourth.

Appropriate footwear is to be worn at all times when playing.
