Seb & Geoff - Worthy Winners
This years winter doubles were played in a slightly different format. There were still two divisions, Premier and Club, which were then split into two leagues. Each team played everyone in their league, leading to finals night where the winners of their respective leagues played each other. 2nd place played 2nd place and so on down to 8th against 8th in the premier league and 6th against 6th in the club league. This gave all teams two games against the some opponents, which would then determine their final position in their respective divisions.
Seb & Geoff were the worthy winners of the premier division, having started as favourites, and only losing one game. Their very healthy points difference of 80 shows the good form they were bringing into the final, although having said that, their opponents were no push over. Fred and Alex, having played together many times in the past, are a very strong team and could have beaten any team on the day. However they had to settle for second place as, on this occasion, Seb & Geoff were too strong for them, winning both of the final games 13 - 8.
3rd place was taken by Jimmy R and John P (who had taken Scott's place for the last few weeks), in a hard fought league they managed to win 7 of the 12 games, earning the chance to play for 3rd or 4th place, where they managed to get the better of John H & Lief, winning both games.
