Day trip to Carrefour
With Condor delayed and the weather a little overcast and grey, the Guernsey contingent were still in good spirits, as this is usually a very good day out. We eventually arrived in Jersey a few hours later than we should have, but were quickly coached out to the club by a very entertaining driver. We received our usual very warm welcome from the Carrefour members, who offered tea and coffee with home made Jersey Wonders, then on to the first games. Some very light drizzle tried to spoil things, but it only lasted for a few ends before brightening. After a short first game, ended by the bell, lunch was served and what a fabulous spread, then on to two more games. This years format of playing with the same partner for all three games gave the opportunity to get a good rapport going and play to each others strengths. With the Guernsey sun arriving while we were having lunch, the afternoon games were played in perfect, if rather warm conditions. Tea/coffee and cake were on offer to end the day, followed by the presentations, before the club members kindly gave us all a lift to town. We enjoyed our evening meal in the usual Italian restaurant before heading off to the harbour for the much delayed return journey. A very weary but happy group of travellers arrived back in Guernsey just before Midnight.
